Beautiful Liposuction Surgery in Newport Beach

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to reduce stubborn fat deposits from targeted areas of the body. Liposuction is commonly performed in areas such as the buttocks, abdomen, thighs, upper arms, knees, calves, neck, cheeks, and chin. A cosmetic surgeon may perform this procedure using traditional or advanced techniques, depending on the circumstances of the case.

Patients should be aware that liposuction is not a weight loss plastic surgery procedure, but helps achieve enhanced body contours through fat reduction. During the initial consultation, the surgeon will explain what the procedure can or cannot do for the patient. Dr. Hisham Seify

is a board certified plastic surgeon providing liposuction surgery in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and surrounding communities.

Who is a Golden Candidate?

Men and women who are bothered by the presence of unwanted fat pockets in specific areas of the body, which do not respond to diet or exercise, will usually make good candidates for liposuction cosmetic surgery. The candidate should have moderate and stable body weight and fairly elastic skin in order to achieve significant improvement in body contours.

The candidate should have concrete and fine overall health, and should not be having any medical condition that may cause obstruction during surgery. Patients with clear aesthetic goals, positive outlook, and realistic expectations will typically achieve most satisfying results with liposuction plastic surgery.

Procedure

The cosmetic surgeon may perform liposuction using general or local anesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery involved. The procedure begins with the surgeon placing a small incision in an inconspicuous location in the targeted area. A narrow tube called cannula is inserted through the incision into the deeper fat layers. The targeted fat cells are dislodged with the cannula, and suctioned out through a vacuum pump or syringe attached to the outer end of the cannula.

Loss of fluid is compensated intravenously through the procedure. As an experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Seify adopts this basic procedure for his patients in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and nearby areas. The procedure will be supported with one of the following advanced techniques to achieve best outcomes.

Tumescent Technique

Copious volume of fluids, about three times the volume of fat to be removed, is injected using this technique. This technique is performed on patients who need only local anesthesia.

Super-Wet Technique

Lesser volume of fluids is used in this technique, which is about equivalent to the volume of fat to be removed. The technique is much faster compared to tumescent technique, but it is used only when liposuction is performed using general anesthesia.

Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction

This technique involves delivery of ultrasound energy through a special cannula, which helps liquefy the fat before it is removed. The fat cells damaged through ultrasound energy are then suctioned out using a pump.

Recovery

The surgeon will require the patient to wear a compression garment in the treated area for several weeks. Most patients will experience initial mild pain and swelling. The patient may be able to return to a regular routine that they are accustomed to in about 10 to 14 days, or more in some cases.
