Advancements in plastic surgery in recent years have made it possible to perform body contouring, reshaping, and lifting procedures in almost any part of the body. One of the procedures that have seen a steadily rising demand is butt lift cosmetic surgery. Dr. Hisham Seify is a board certified plastic surgeon providing this surgery, among other procedures to his patients in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and surrounding areas.
What is a Butt Lift?
Butt lift surgery is a popular name for gluteoplasty, which is a procedure performed by a cosmetic surgeon to lift and tighten the buttocks. The goal of the surgery is to ensure that the buttocks appear more youthful and attractive, and in harmony with the rest of the body.
Sagging buttocks may occur when the skin in the area loses its elasticity and the underlying tissue and muscles are weak. Butt lift plastic surgery is designed to remove the loose skin and reposition the surrounding tissue to provide an improved and tighter contour.
Different from Brazilian Butt Lift
Butt lift cosmetic surgery is slightly different from a Brazilian butt lift. In the case of a Brazilian butt lift, the surgeon will inject the patient’s own spare fat into the buttocks in order to add more volume to them and achieve a lifting effect. However, sometimes even a standard butt lift procedure may be performed in conjunction with fat grafting, if the patient’s goal is to make the buttocks appear significantly augmented.
As an experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Seify will evaluate the patient’s anatomy and her aesthetic goals before recommending an appropriate treatment plan. Patients in Newport Beach, Orange County, CA, and nearby areas have an opportunity to receive a marvelous, fantastic, and impressive butt lift surgery from him.
Suitable Candidates
Any adult who is unhappy with the appearance of excessive loose skin in the buttock area or the back of the upper thighs could be an appropriate candidate for this procedure. Patients who are bothered by a mild condition of cellulite in the buttock area could also benefit from a butt lift.
Ideal candidates will be non-smokers or ready to stop smoking several weeks prior to the procedure. They will also have a stable body weight and a commitment to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle after surgery. Patients with large fat tissue in the buttocks may need a combination of a butt lift and liposuction, but not a butt lift alone.
Procedure
The surgeon will decide whether to perform a butt lift using general anesthesia or IV sedation. The surgeon will make an incision in a pre-determined discreet location in the area where the loose skin needs to be excised. Excess skin will be removed through the incision, and the buttocks will be tightened and reshaped using internal sutures.
The remaining skin will be re-draped over the buttocks tightly and smoothly. The surgeon will close the incisions with sutures or surgical tape. Temporary drains may be placed in the skin to collect excess blood or fluid. Most patients will be ready to resume their regular daily activities or go back to work within a week to 10 days.
