Potential Complications
Open rhinoplasty will normally only have minor and temporary side effects. But in exceptional cases, more serious complications may occur, which could include:- Bacterial infection occurring during or after the surgery
- Poor reaction to anesthesia or lidocaine
- Chronic nosebleeds
- Airway obstruction
- Altered sensation or numbness in the incision sites for an extended time period
- Perforations in the septum
- Fluid accumulation under the skin in the incision areas
- Ruptured blood vessels
- Asymmetrical shape of the nose
- Unfavorable scarring
- Possibility of revision surgery
